This morning we went to Sabino Canyon, took a 2 mile hike, explored trails and riverbeds, some of the braver ones even swam a little in the icy water, then we hiked back to the visitor center. I must say, being able to spend the day outside in short sleeves in December is quite lovely. We’ve been to this canyon twice now, and I hope to get some good pictures next time. It is one of the prettiest places I’ve ever seen. My boys brought along their pocket knives, hoping to have a need for them since mountain lions live in the canyon. Lol. The only wildlife we observed was a road runner. 🙂
We headed back home for a late lunch and some rest. Gabbey needs a nap on long days, so she climbed in my bed and slept. I started some laundry and the older girls got their showers, then we all cleaned up a bit and loaded up again for our much-anticipated evening at an old-fashioned town here in Tucson! From panning for gold to riding a train around the whole town–the entire family had such a good time! We got home later than we prefer on a Saturday so I’m sure it will be more challenging to get everyone up and ready tomorrow for church, but this time it was worth it. Thankfully both services tomorrow are fairly close to our trailer, so we don’t have any long driving to accomplish.
I know I’m biased, but I look at these pictures and I am reminded how very blessed I am! Yes, a large family is work. Hard, daily, repetitive work. But my hubby and each one of these children are my greatest earthly blessings. I wouldn’t trade my life for anything in the world.

The gold panning was named Gabby’s Gulch Gold Panning so that was special for our Gabbey. The man gave each of them this tiny glass bottle to fill with the “gold” they found in the stream. The water was SO cold, but they didn’t even care! Even the older girls enjoyed the panning for gold. 🙂
We walked around and enjoyed all of the festivities like the train and the old-fashioned carousel.
All in all, it was an amazingly fun evening, spent with my favorite people in the whole world. (I’m including way too many pictures of Titus…..I know…..But I just adore his baby expressions, and I want to remember each one of them, so humor me just a bit this once, okay?) 🙂
Have a blessed Lord’s Day!
